The bullet-proof holster comprises a sleeve for holding the firearm, means for securing the firearm within the sleeve, and a bullet blocker that will absorb and contain an inadvertent discharge of a single bullet and any bullet particles from the single bullet. The bullet blocker abuts the discharge chamber of the firearm in the bullet-proof holster. Several bullet blockers have been field-tested and provide excellent results, most notably, small ceramic balls packed tightly together onto a bullet resistant material (Kevlar®) by an epoxy. Impregnated bullet-resistant fabric with shear thickening fluids, the bullet blocker is made of ceramic particles held together by an epoxy, and the bullet blocker is a shaped ceramic material. An embodiment is also shown that enables this technology to be applied to. a conventional holster. |
