PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high rate and cycle characteristics and high capacity.

SOLUTION: The electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a collector; a first mixture layer formed on a surface of the collector; and a second mixture layer formed on a surface of the first mixture layer. The first mixture layer includes a first active material which can reversibly occlude and discharge lithium and a binder. The second mixture layer includes a second active material which can reversibly occlude and discharge lithium and a binder of an amount smaller than the first mixture layer. The binder of the second mixture layer is a binder that is dispersed from a first coating film to a second coating film through binder migration when the fist mixture layer and the second mixture layer are formed. The second active material is higher than the first active material in capacity per 1g.
