PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition capable of improving properties such as reduced heat build-up, and a pneumatic tire produced by using the rubber composition. SOLUTION: The rubber composition is produced by compounding a rubber component comprising a diene-based rubber such as a natural rubber, a styrene-butadiene rubber and a polybutadiene rubber with carbon black, a diamine carbamate (e.g. hexamethylenediamine carbamate and 4,4'-methylenebiscyclohexylamine carbamate), sulfur and a vulcanization accelerator.
