PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an optical film by which a coating film is formed so as to be free from unevenness of the thickness of the coating film and wrinkle due to shrinkage thereof. SOLUTION: The method of producing the optical film comprises: a coating process 22 for applying a coating material onto a film substrate 16; a drying process 24 for drying a solvent of an applied coating liquid layer; and a curing process 26 for curing the coating liquid layer in which the solvent is dried, by irradiating the coating liquid layer with ultraviolet light. The coating liquid contains a solute having≤300 cp viscosity at the maximum temperature in the drying process 24, the coating liquid is applied in such a way that the solute occupies≥20 wt.% in total solid portion and the coating film has a thickness of≥10μm after the drying process. In the drying process 24, after the viscosity of the coating film becomes≥50 cp, drying air is applied under a temperature at which the viscosity of the solute exhibits≤300 cp and at≥1.5 m/sec and≤2.5 m/sec air speed for a time of≤15 sec in total and the drying air is applied at <1.5 m/sec for the other time.
