<p>The invention relates to a method for detecting the presence and the extent of defects in an optical component (2) to be monitored, said method involving: producing a periodic light pattern (7) that is transmitted through the optical component (2); successively acquiring, during the transmission through the component, images of the periodic pattern that is phase-shifted at each acquisition; calculating the phase images on the basis of said successive images; and analyzing said phase images so as to derive therefrom the presence of defects in the component. According to the invention, the method involves: recording the successive image series by means of at least two cameras (Cl, Cr) that form a stereoscopic system and can be pointed in various directions so as to obtain at least two phase images respectively corresponding to at least two pointing directions, for a defect that is detected and located on one of the at least two phase images; locating the same defect on at least one other phase image; and determining, according to the positions of the defect located on at least two phase images, the extent of the defect in the optical component.</p> |
