The invention relates a battery (1) which consists of a plurality of single battery cells (2) which are mutually connected in an electrically conducting manner. The connection is achieved by pressing battery terminals (12, 13) against each other and/or by means of electrical connection elements (8) between the battery terminals (7). The battery (1) comprises an electronics unit (5) for monitoring single battery cells (2), or groups of single battery cells (2). The electronics unit (5) is in electrical contact with the single battery cells (2), or groups of single battery cells (2). According to the invention, the electrical contact is provided by means of contact elements (9) in the electronics unit (5). The contact elements (9) are pressed in a force-locked manner on the battery terminals (12, 13) and/or portions of the battery terminals (19) and/or on the connecting elements (8) connecting the battery terminals (7).
