PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control board capable of preventing nonconformities that may be produced by an excessively large output, excessively small output or signal runaway in an output signal from a solid-state imaging apparatus, or the like, and to provide an image reader, an image forming apparatus, an imaging apparatus and a control method. SOLUTION: A control board 100 includes: a sinal output means 110 for outputting a sensor response; and a signal processing means 120 for processing an inputted signal and further, includes: an overvoltage protecting means 140, comprising a switch means 142 to which an output signal from the signal output means 110 is inputted and which shuts out transfer of the output signal to a post-stage during a set period wherein the signal output means 110 generates abnormal output; and a buffer means 130 for buffering the output signal transferred from the signal output means 110 through the switch means 142 and outputting the output signal to the signal processing means 120.
