PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a refuse collection system 1 with a compactor (a refuse loading device) for loading refuse in a container compact and to improve space efficiency. SOLUTION: The system 1 includes a vertical moving carriage 3 capable of moving in a vertical direction, and a lateral moving carriage 4 capable of moving in a lateral direction. The vertical moving carriage 3 reciprocates between a loading position 101 for receiving/loading of refuse in the container 6, and an unloading position 102 for unloading the container 6 with respect to the carriages 3, 4; and the lateral moving carriage 4 reciprocates between the unloading position 102, and a standby position 103 for putting the container 6 on standby.
