PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight fuel tank that can increase rigidity of a tank shell with less reinforcing members to reduce the weight of the tank. SOLUTION: The lightweight fuel tank includes a rectangular parallelepiped tank shell formed by joining an upper shell 2 and a lower shell 3, and one or more reinforcing members 4 having a convex cross-sectional shape inside the tank, which is fixed along a short hand direction of the tank shell reaching up to both long hand wall surfaces from an inner side of a bottom surface of the tank shell. A thickness of the reinforcing members 4 is not more than a thickness of the tank shell, and the weight of the one or more reinforcing members 4 weighs not more than a tenth of the weight of the tank shell.
