PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor a connection state between input and output ports in a simple configuration, concerning an optical cross-connect apparatus, which has a plurality of input ports and a plurality of output ports, and which includes an optical switch module for connecting the input ports and the output ports, respectively, under control of a switch controller. SOLUTION: An optical cross-connect apparatus includes: a reflector which is connected to output ports, inputs signal light output from the output ports, returns part of its light power as reflection light and making the remaining light power pass through; a brancher which inputs signal light to input ports and branches the reflection light returned from the reflector to the input ports; and a photodetector for detecting the light receiving level of the reflection light reflected by the reflector and input through an optical switch module and the brancher. Between the input and output ports to which the optical switch module is connected, a switch controller monitors a connection state between the input and output ports based on the light receiving level, detected by the photodetector, of the reflection light obtained by returning signal light in the reflector.
