<p>Provided is a carbon brush such that it is possible to improve motor efficiency and to achieve a prolonged service life. Disclosed is a carbon brush (1) which is pressed against a conductive rotating body (2) and which is characterized by containing mesocarbon powder and an aggregate containing at least carbon as one component. Preferably, the mesocarbon powder has a roughly spherical shape, and is subjected to pre-heating treatment. Moreover, the temperature for the pre-heating treatment is preferably 500°C to 700°C inclusive.</p>
