<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel control method and a device for a low-cost hybrid track vehicle capable of reducing the generation of noise or exhaust emission by securing an effect that the hybrid track vehicle travels by only a motor at a departure from a station. <P>SOLUTION: When a train 21 during a stop departs from a platform 22, an engine is in a stop state, and the train is accelerated from velocity 0 by motor drive by the use of energy stored in a storage battery. A turnout 23 installed in a station yard is set at 45 km/h as a turnout speed limit, for example. The train is accelerated in speed after the departure, a master controller is set to be notched off, for example, at about 40 km/h before approaching the turnout 23, and the train comes into a coasting state. The state is maintained until a backmost part of the train 21 passes the turnout 23, notch-up is performed after the passage, and the train is accelerated in speed.
