<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle unit in which rotation speed of a main spindle can be increased. <P>SOLUTION: The spindle unit 2 includes the spindle 6 to which a tool 4 is attached, and a housing 8 for rotatably supporting the main spindle 6. The spindle 6 is provided with a spindle support part 16 rotatably supported by the housing 8 through a plurality of bearings 28, and a spindle front part 18 extended from the spindle support part 16. The tool 4 is attached to the distal end of the spindle front part 18, and a diameter enlarged part 56 having a diameter larger than that of the proximal end side 54 of the spindle rear side is provided to a prescribed portion in a distal end side the spindle front part 18.
