PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device that brings a transfer material in uniform contact with an image carrier, and prevents biasing or distortion of a transfer medium. SOLUTION: The transfer device 5 includes a transfer member that comes in contact with the image carrier 1 to transfer a toner image formed on the surface of the image carrier, to the transfer medium. The transfer member is divided into a plurality of members, and each of the plurality of divided members is freely rotatable. Specifically, the divided transfer members are at least three of more transfer rollers 5a, 5b and 5c. The divided transfer rollers 5a, 5b and 5c are arranged on the same axis so as to come in contact with the surface of the image carrier 1, and freely rotatable independently from one another. By freely rotatably disposing the transfer rollers, the transfer rollers may rotate independently, accordingly. Even when the transfer medium having different width passes through a contact portion between the image carrier and each of the transfer rollers, the transfer rollers are driven without difficulty, then, the transfer medium can be satisfactorily conveyed.
