PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device which is easily manufacturable, miniaturizable, easily installable, and widely applicable to all kinds of technical fields such as buildings and wheels, and which has a large vibration absorbing capability for its size. SOLUTION: This base isolation device includes an inner member 10, a surrounding member 20, and vibration absorbing springs 30 which are inserted onto the inner member 10 and inserted into the surrounding member 20. The vibration absorbing spring 30 is a non-circular annular member. The vibration absorbing spring 30 can be easily manufactured by merely forming a wire in an annular shape. When a vibrating external force is applied to the inner member 10 or the surrounding member 20, the vibration absorbing springs 30 deform, and absorbs the vibration energy by the stresses produced therein to resist the deformation. Since the vibration absorbing spring 30 is deflected and deformed in an enclosed space, the absorbing energy thereof is large, and a high vibration absorbing effect can be provided. Since the vibration absorbing spring 30 is non-circular, the spring can provide a vibration absorbing action due to deformation against an external force acting thereon in any direction.
