PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material for protecting bark having durability in a state that the sheet material is wound around a tree, and facilitating mounting operation, and to provide a bark protector using the same. SOLUTION: The sheet material A for protecting the bark is integrally formed by orienting a plurality of chain stitch rows 1 knitted from yarns comprising a biodegradable synthetic resin material in the warp direction at a prescribed interval kept therebetween, and interlacing the mutual chain stitch rows 1 in a double overlapped state of a knitted material B knitted in a mesh state by alternately crossing over a tape-like connecting yarn 2 comprising the biodegradable synthetic resin material in the weft direction at an interval kept between the adjacent chain stitch rows.
