<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passing detection system that can certainly grasp card operation performed by a passerby, without directly accessing room-entrance/exit data itself to detect an unauthorized accompanied person. <P>SOLUTION: A card operation detection part 1 irradiates a light toward a direction to be intercepted when card operation is performed and outputs a detection signal indicating that the card operation is performed, when the irradiating light is intercepted. A passing existence detecting part 2 detects persons passing through. An accompanying determination section 3 determines whether an unauthorized person is accompanied, based on the detection output from the card operation detection part 1 and the detection output from the passing existence detection part 2.
