PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator type mechanical parking system, accommodating vehicles of different sizes and also installed in a site having an insufficient width to install the system. SOLUTION: This elevator type mechanical parking system 10 accommodates a wide vehicle 1A having relatively large width vehicle and a narrow vehicle 1B having a small vehicle width. The system includes: a plurality of wide pallets 12A set to dimensions suitable for the wide vehicle; a plurality of narrow pallets 12B set to dimensions suitable for the narrow vehicle; a plurality of wide storing racks 13A in which wide pallets are disposed at spaces LA in the vertical direction; a plurality of narrow storing racks 13B in which the plurality of narrow pallets are disposed at spaces LB in the vertical direction; a hoistway 15 located between the wide storing rack and the narrow storing rack and extended in the vertical direction; an elevating lift 14 elevated in the hoistway and exclusively loaded with the wide pallet or the narrow pallet; and a traverser 16 mounted to the elevating lift to cause the wide pallet to traverse in a space up to the wide storing rack and cause the narrow pallet to traverse in a space up to the narrow storing rack.
