PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a benzimidazole derivative having excellent pharmacological actions such as strong and sustained hypotensive actions, and insulin resistance improving actions, and excellent physical properties such as crystallinity and stability as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. SOLUTION: The method for producing the compound represented by formula or a salt thereof includes: reacting a reactive derivative of 2-cyclopropyl-1-ä[2'-(5-oxo-4, 5-dihydro-1, 2, 4-oxadiazol-3-yl) biphenyl-4-yl] methyl}-1H-benzimidazole-7-carboxylic acid or a salt thereof with 4-hydroxymethyl-5-methyl-1, 3-dioxol-2-one or a salt thereof.
