PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed switching motor that can reduce cogging torque and torque ripple while reducing both electrical and magnetic unbalance caused by an armature coil. SOLUTION: Four magnets 17a to 17d are fastened to the inner peripheral surface of a yoke to form a field section 17 having four poles, and eighteen slots 18a to 18r are provided in an armature core 18 stored in the yoke, thus setting the number of slots/the number of pole pairs to an odd number. One end of the armature coil 22 wound around the armature core 18 is connected to one of adjoining commutator pieces and the other end is connected to the other commutator piece. The armature coil 22 comprises a first coil section 22a and a second coil section 22b, and the coil sections 22a, 22b are each wound in the same direction between a pair of slots, with three slots in between, at a position shifted by 180°in the rotating direction.
