PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device suitable for a winder that controls winding of winding material through a winding motor based on a tension command value of the set winding material, and a tension detection value of the winding material detected by tension pickup. SOLUTION: The control device 30 of the winder includes an inverter 31, a winding diameter calculator 32, a multiplication calculator 33, an addition calculator 34, a spacing interpolation calculating means 35, a comparison means 36, a switch circuit 37, a multiplication calculator 38, a speed command calculator 39, and the like to automatically remove sagging of the winding material 1 at the start of operation of the winder. Provision of a function of deriving a winding diameter estimation value at the start of operation of the winder allows an operator to start the operation only by pressing an operation start button, thus improving work efficiency, avoiding erroneous operation, and shortening recovery work time in case of occurrence of abnormality such as breakage of the winding material due to some cause.
