PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus capable of obtaining high S/N ratio during decoding regardless of a zone limit of a piezoelectric element when coded excitation is performed by using of codes such as Barker codes. SOLUTION: The apparatus has: a generator for generating an electric signal of a pulse sequence, where amplitude of the pulse before and after changing the phase in a plurality of pulses is larger than the amplitude of the other pulse, while the pulse sequence is formed by coding a plurality of pulses; a transmitter having the piezoelectric element for changing the electric signal to an ultrasonic signal; a receiver for receiving a second ultrasonic signal generated by reflecting the ultrasonic signal transmitted by the transmitter on a subject and changing it to the electric signal; a decoding filter for compressing the electric signal and forming the pulse sequence; and an image processing part for generating an ultrasonic image in the subject from the compressed pulse sequence.
