<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve readability of a document by enlarging and outputting a document image, without deforming characters, when outputting the document image. <P>SOLUTION: On the basis of an output image D2, a character region D3 and a margin region D4 are extracted. The character region D3 is divided into a line region D6 and an inter-line region D7. In accordance with a ratio of the line region D6 and a non-character region comprising the inter-line region D7 and the margin region D4, it is determined whether to enlarge a character. When it is determined to enlarge the character, based on a width and a length of the line region D6, a width of the inter-line region D7 and a width of the margin region D4, an enlargement scale D8 having equal longitudinal and lateral magnifications is determined, and a reduction scale D9 of the inter-line region D7 and the margin region D4 is determined. The line region D6 enlarged on the basis of the enlargement scale D8 and the inter-line region D7 and the margin region D4 reduced on the basis of the reduction scale D9 are then combined to produce an output image D10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
