PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of detecting the size in every direction. SOLUTION: The image forming device includes an opening/closing detection means detecting the opening/closing of a tray, a paper sheet presence/absence detection means detecting the presence/absence of any paper sheet in the tray, an end face detection means detecting end faces of paper sheets, a fence for aligning the end faces of the paper sheets, a position determining means which moves the fence when the opening/closing detection means detects that the tray is closed, and the paper sheet presence/absence detection means detects that paper sheets are present, and automatically determines the position of the fence when the end face detection means detects the end faces of the paper sheets, and a size measuring means for automatically measuring the size in the main scanning direction of the paper sheet and the size of the sub scanning direction of the paper sheet based on the movement of the fence by the position determining means.
