PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, capable of performing fast conversion into a designated color, while being compressed image data. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided for converting input image data into the designated color. The apparatus includes: a designator for receiving the designated color from a user; a holder for holding, in a block comprised of a predetermined number of pixels constituting the image data, a representative color in the block, which is generated by compression, the color arrangement of pixels included in the block and another color that is a color other than the representative color included in the block; and a color converter for converting the block into a monochromatic block in the designated color by color-converting at least one of the representative color and the other color into the color designated by the designator in accordance with the color arrangement.
