The invention relates to a method for extracting gaseous hydrocarbons, in particular liquid gas and/or a gas mixture resembling natural gas or one or more components contained in liquid gas or in the gas mixture resembling natural gas. The starting material used contains oxygen-containing hydrocarbons. The method comprises the following steps: providing the starting material—contacting the starting material with a porous catalyst in the absence of oxygen at a temperature of 300-850° C. in a converting reactor, resulting in a hydrocarbon-containing product gas mixture, in which the proportion by weight of the gaseous hydrocarbons is greater than that of the liquid hydrocarbons,—collecting the hydrocarbon-containing product gas stream and supplying the product gas stream to a separating device, where product separation is performed.
