<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of modulating appetite and/or body weight of an object. <P>SOLUTION: This method contains a step of administering an active amount of macrophage inhibitory cytokine 1 (MIC-1) modulating drug to the object. The drug increases or decreases the quantity of MIC-1 existing in the object or it inhibits or enhances the biological activity of the MIC-1 existing in the object. The method in which a drug decreases the quantity of endogenous MIC-1 in the object and the method in which the drug which decreases the quantity of endogenous MIC-1 in the object is selected from the group consisting of anti-MIC-1 antibody or its fragment, a catalyst molecule targeting the gene of MIC-1 and an inhibiting molecule and a transcription or translation inhibiting substance of MIC-1, are also disclosed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
