PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance accuracy of determining water quality, concernng a water quality monitoring apparatus for determining the water quality by analysis of an image obtained by imaging the fishes swimming in an illuminated monitor water tank. SOLUTION: A lighting fixture 2 having a pair of linear light sources 10 and 10 wherein a plurality of LEDs 11 are linearly arranged and a monitor camera 3, which images the fishes swimming in the monitor water tank 1, are provided above the monitor water tank 1 and each linear light source 10 of the lighting fixture 2 are arranged at a position shifted from the angle of field of the monitor camera 3 while the light paths directly going toward the surface of water from each linear light source 10 are cut off at the upper end edge of the collection net 9 protruded from the surface of water of a swimming tank 5 to prevent the reflection of the direct light from each linear light source 10 by the surface of water to thereby make it hard to produce the wrong detection of the abnormal conditions of water.
