The system has a supply tank (1) for storing a reducing agent (2) i.e. aqueous solution. A pump (3) and a metering unit (4) for metering the reducing agent into an exhaust pipe (5). The pump conveys the reducing agent and compresses a chemical pump, which is controllable and chemically resistant regarding delivery rate and/or pressure in terms of the reducing agent. The mass flowing from the pump is appropriately ranges between 40 and 90 kilogram per hour. The pressure produced by the pump lies between 3, 5 and 10 bars.
