PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual inspection device capable of easily and precisely inspecting the upper and lower end parts of a work by accurately imaging the upper and lower end parts of the work, and a visual inspection method. SOLUTION: The visual inspection device, equipped with a reflector having a mirror surface provided to the inside thereof and constituted so that the base of the mirror surface is formed into a recessed curved surface state, the measuring target positioned in the reflector so as to be surrounded by the mirror surface, a camera for taking the image of the measuring target reflected to the mirror surface and a positioning means for positioning the measuring target in the reflector, is characterized in that the positioning means positions the lower end part of the part to be inspected of the measuring target to be higher than the base of the mirror surface.
