PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content playback device and program, capable of smoothly switching between broadcast content and communication content. SOLUTION: The content playback device has a broadcast content stream temporary storage part 14, a program playback scenario interpreter 15 which interprets the broadcast content of a user's program playback scenario file, part of the content of which is replaced with the broadcast content with a playback time different from that of a program playback file, a communication content request part 17 which requests the transmission of desired content to a content server on a network at a specified timing based on the content of the interpreted program playback scenario file, a communication content stream temporary storage part 19 which stores communication content streams, and an output content switch controller 20 which switches between broadcast content and communication content based on the content of the program playback scenario file interpreted by the program playback scenario interpreter 15.
