PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent inconvenience that a signal is transmitted and received by an emitted electric field. SOLUTION: An electric field corresponding to a modulated data signal generated by modulating a carrier being a rectangular wave is applied to an electric field transmitting medium. A receiving part 23 includes: an amplifier 231 for amplifying a received signal generated between electrodes 21 and 22 by the electric field; a demodulation circuit 232 for demodulating a baseband data signal from the amplified received signal; a first amplitude detector 233 for extracting the fundamental frequency component of the carrier from the amplified received signal and converting it into a DC voltage signal having a voltage corresponding to the amplitude of the fundamental frequency component; a second amplitude detector 234 for extracting the harmonic component of the carrier from the amplified received signal and converting it into a DC voltage signal having a voltage corresponding to the amplitude of the harmonic component; a comparator 235 for comparing output voltages of the respective amplifier detectors with each other; and an AND circuit 236 for outputting the logical product of the voltage outputted from the comparator 235 and the baseband signal.
