PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor having a structure which causes no effect on the functions of inner parts of the compressor even in an abnormal use of a refrigeration cycle. SOLUTION: The compressor includes: a casing body constituting a cylinder 1; a compression mechanism disposed in the cylinder 1; and a discharge space 12 into which a refrigerant compressed in the compression mechanism is discharged. A first thermal switch 14 which opens and closes an electrical circuit for controlling the compressor if the temperature of the cylinder reaches a prescribed temperature is disposed at an outer wall of the cylinder 1. The first thermal switch 14 detects the temperature on a cylinder outer surface to control operation of the compressor even if the compressor rotates at high speed in a state of a low refrigerant circulation volume and the temperature on the cylinder outer surface becomes high. This can prevent a high temperature state which impairs function of the inner parts of the compressor and can also improve the reliability of the compressor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
