PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition (an analgesic) effective for mitigating various pains. SOLUTION: As the active ingredient of an analgesic, a metal chelate compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R is an OH group, an O-lower alkyl group, an amino group, an N-substituted amino group an amino acid residue, or a peptide residue; and M is a pharmaceutically acceptable metal) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is used.
