The arrangement has an energy storage (S1) e.g. lead-acid battery, a voltage generator (G) and an electrical consumer (B) coupled or linked with one another in a subassembly. The subassembly is coupled over a direct current (DC) static converter with another energy storage (S2). A control device (SG) is attached to the static converter for determining a voltage provided by the static converter. The control device defines the voltage on a side of the subassembly in a predetermined situation based on a current value measured by a measuring unit (A). An independent claim is also included for a method for providing an operating voltage for an electrical consumer of a motor car.
