<p>The method involves compressing feed air in a main air compressor to a pressure which is higher than the operating pressure of a high pressure column (17). The compressed feed air is introduced into a main heat exchanger, in order to cool against return flows. An air stream (9) formed by a portion of the compressed feed air is removed from the main heat exchanger after partial cooling in the main heat exchanger into an intermediate temperature. A portion of the mechanical energy produced during the expansion to perform work in a turbine (21) is fed to an oil brake (23). An independent claim is also included for a device for cryogenic separation of air.</p> |
