The apparatus has a balancing plate (11) provided with a data communication equipment (25) i.e. radio frequency identification (RFID)-transponder, and a balance part (13) with a receiver (27) i.e. RFID reader, for transmission of identifying data of the plate to the balance part. The plate comprises a balancing plate body (17) and a conveying belt (15) that deposit characteristic data in the data communication equipment and another data communication equipment, respectively. Operating parameters i.e. offset parameters, are associated with the plate for determining weight of goods. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a weighing apparatus. |
