FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: mercury-halogenating agent and ammonia are added to flue gas formed during combustion in a boiler and containing NOx, SOx and mercury. The flue gas is brought into contact with a CO/HC oxidation catalyst, undergoes reductive denitration in the presence of a solid catalyst simultaneously with oxidation of metallic mercury to halogenated mercury. The flue gas undergoes wet desulphurisation using an alkaline absorbent solution and the halogenated mercury is removed.
