摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle instrument panel peripheral structure which enhances appearance quality by disposing an integrally formed surface layer on the instrument panel and a meter hood, and enhances impact absorption characteristics by sufficiently ensuring the amount of forward movement of a steering column by allowing the meter hood to easily rotate upward with a connection portion as a starting point. SOLUTION: The instrument panel 1 and the meter hood 2 are dividedly formed. The integrally formed surface layer 40 is disposed on the instrument panel 1 and the meter hood 2 in a state where the front edge of the meter hood 2 is connected to the instrument panel 1 at the connection portion. Upon contact of a column cover 8, the attachment of a meter unit 3 is released, and the meter unit is upward movably attached to the instrument panel 1. When the column cover 8 is moved forward during exertion of impact load, the attachment of the meter unit 3 is released upon contact of the column cover 8, and the meter unit is moved upward. The meter unit 3 interferes with the meter hood 2, thereby allowing the meter hood 2 to be rotated upward with the connection portion as the starting point. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
