The press has a pressing bar (10) displaceably supported to a twin C-shaped frame (1) and actuatable over a hydraulic main drive. The main drive comprises a lower piston cylinder unit (14) and an upper piston cylinder unit (22) supported at the frame. The pressing bar is clamped between the piston cylinder units by force resulting from the cylinder units. Pressure of the piston cylinder units is equal or larger than adjustable maximum press pressure of the main drive when working along press direction, and is applied for intended workpiece machining process.
