<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit that emits a linear light at light quantity adapted to the characteristics of a reading optical system in irradiating the reading surface with the linear light, has a simple structure and can be inexpensively manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: The light source unit for irradiating the reading surface with a linear light includes a light guide having a light scattering surface for scattering a light in a line direction along the reading surface and a light emitting surface for emitting the light from the light scattering surface toward the reading surface, and a light source disposed on at least one edge of the light guide. The light source includes at least two light emitting bodies. First and second light emitting bodies are arranged at a distance in an emission optical path direction from the light emitting surface to the reading surface. The light emitting bodies are each made of a planar light emitting element, the light emitting elements face the edge of the light guide, and the light emitting surface of the planar light emitting element and the edge of the light guide are arranged so as to be inclined by a predetermined angle for a normal of the light scattering surface. The light emitting bodies vertically arranged in the emitting direction by the inclined arrangement can increase the amount of light because a light from the light emitting body near to the scattering surface is concentrated on both ends of the linear light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
