PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covering material for a lithium ion battery, which can be produced with high productivity, is excellent in electrolyte resistance, and has low water vapor permeability. SOLUTION: The covering material 1 for the lithium ion battery includes a substrate layer 11 as well as a first adhesive layer 12, an aluminum foil layer 13, a corrosion prevention treatment layer 14, a second adhesive layer 15 and a sealant layer 16, which are sequentially placed on one surface of the substrate layer 11, characterized in that the second adhesive layer 15 contains a polyurethane-based adhesive (A) obtained by reacting one or more main ingredients (A1) selected from a group consisting of a polyester polyol having a hydrophobic unit derived from dimer aliphatic acid or a hydrogen additive thereof and an isocyanate elongation matter of the polyester polyol with a curing agent (A2) comprising a polyisocyanate compound.
