The device is designed such that volumetric flow of medium flows into a concave-shaped arrangement of electric conductors, where medium is permeable into the electric conductors. A liquid level is adjusted based on viscosity and volumetric flow of the medium, where impedance between the conductors is determined based on the liquid level. The impedance between the conductors at a known viscosity and a known flow rate is utilized as a measure of the volumetric flow and a measure of the viscosity of the medium, respectively.
