<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe hyaluronic acid production promoter enabling the hyaluronic acid effective for the inhibition of aging of the human skin, the prevention and treatment of arthritis or the like, etc., to be mass-produced, and to provide a cosmetic containing the hyaluronic acid production promoter. <P>SOLUTION: The hyaluronic acid production promoter contains an extract of Pseudocydonia sinensis. Preferably, the promoter contains the extract of the Pseudocydonia sinensis, obtained by extracting the fruit of the Pseudocydonia sinensis of Rosaceae with one of water, a hydrophilic organic solvent and a mixed solvent thereof.
