PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw driver with the screw holding function of high screw holding capacity with simple use, by restraining labor and cost of manufacture. SOLUTION: This screw driver 1A with the screw holding function can fasten a screw while holding the screw 6 by engaging with a recess 7 formed in a head part 61 of the screw 6. A plurality of engaging parts 4 for engaging with the recess 7 are formed in a tip part of the driver 1A, and a diametrically contracting slit 5 for respectively elastically deforming the tip of these respective engaging parts 4 in the diametrically contracting direction, is formed along the axial direction between the mutual respective engaging parts 4, and an interval L of an outside surface 41 of the mutual respective engaging parts 4 is formed larger than an interval L<SB>0</SB>of an inside surface 71 of the engaging recess 7, and the respective engaging parts 4 have a pressure contact surface 42 capable of coming into pressure contact under predetermined pressure with the inside surface 71 of the recess 7 by being elastically deformed in the diametrically contracting direction when engaging with the recess 7.
