PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alcohol interlock system enabling a driver to recognize whether the starting of a prime mover is permitted or not. SOLUTION: A control portion of the alcohol interlock system determines whether a driver of a vehicle is in a drinking state or not (S230), permits the starting of an engine (S234) when determining that the driver is not in the drinking state (YES in S230), and prohibits the starting of the engine when determining that the driver is in the drinking state (No in S230). When the engine is not started until a starting timer becomes 0 second since the starting of the engine is permitted, the starting of the engine is prohibited (S248). A display portion carries out different indication when the starting of the engine is permitted (S240, S244) and when the starting of the engine is prohibited (S250).
