PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerator device allowing avoidance of an accident even when an operator of a machine continues accelerator operation without becoming aware of risk of the accident, and to provide a vehicle rear-end collision prevention system using the same. SOLUTION: This accelerator device 1 includes: an accelerator pedal 3; and an accelerator wire 6 connecting the accelerator pedal 3 to a throttle lever 5. The accelerator wire 6 includes: a driving side member 7 having one end part 7A connected to the accelerator pedal 3; and a driven side member 8 having one end part 8A connected to the throttle lever 5. The other end part 7B of the driving side member 7 and the other end part 8B of the driven side member 8 are connected in a state allowing free disconnection/connection through a clutch mechanism 10, and the accelerator device 1 includes a disconnecting/connecting switch 13 for cutting off the clutch mechanism 10.
