PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that evaluates an amount of expansion of a medium even when the medium absorbs ink and expands during printing, and performs printing corresponding to the amount of expansion, and to print a test sheet that evaluates the amount of expansion of a medium by using this printer. SOLUTION: In the printer, a control section controls the conveyance speed of a medium and selects one of first and second heads in order to use it for printing. In this case, the control section prints on a medium stretch inspection sheet to be subjected to inspection of an amount by which the medium stretches in a lapse of time from the formation of the first dot to the formation of the second dot. According to the result of the inspection of the medium stretch inspection sheet, time that elapses from the formation of the first dot to the formation of the second dot is altered.
