<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MgO-C brick for the lining of the slag line part in a molten steel ladle, which can deal with refining of clean steel, and further, in which occurrence of cracks caused by thermal shock can be suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The MgO-C brick 4b for a lining to be lined to the slag line part S of a molten steel ladle 1 does not contain Al, and, provided that the whole of the Mgo-C brick 4b for lining is defined as 100 pts.wt., it contains 75 to 90 pts.wt.
