PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the abnormality of an EGR system with high accuracy. SOLUTION: This abnormality detection device includes a high-pressure EGR device for supplying high-pressure EGR gas from an exhaust passage on the upstream side of a turbine to an intake passage, and a low-pressure EGR device for supplying low-pressure EGR gas from the exhaust passage on the downstream side of the turbine to the intake passage. The EGR valve of one EGR device is feedback controlled while one EGR device supplies EGR gas. When the opening of the EGR valve is a value showing abnormality, the EGR valve of the other EGR device is feedback controlled while both EGR devices supply EGR gas. When the opening of the EGR valve of the other EGR device is out of a specified range, the abnormality of one EGR device is determined. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
